"Art is Life. Your art is your life. You are growing through it, and it is growing through you. Just as the plant grows through the soil and it also nurtures the soil, you unfold your potentialities in your art, and it also unfolds in you. What you bring to your art, your art will bring back to you. When you dance, you give your body as an offering to the force of Life that manifests through Dance & Movement, that it may manifest through you; but you also receive. Your body is permeated by this force of Life, and therefore, it experiences for some time the delight of being in direct connection with that force, to communicate its power to the world.
"And so is it with everything else. What you help grow, also helps you grow. It is the eternal exchange of Life. Think of it when you dance. In exact measure as you give yourself wholly to movement, to dance, and think of nothing else, your skill will grow because dance has a lot to bring back to you, since you brought a lot to it. That law of Nature will fulfill you: this I promise you. There is nothing we give, that is not returned to us, and sometimes a thousandfold. The more we do, the more we get, and it is not a question of calculation or compensation, it is a natural equilibrium, as logical as the ebb and flow of the tide.
"So don't be afraid to be tired, to spend your energy, to lose it because you don't use it wisely; for it will come back to you because of the gift you made to that which you used it up for. Energy is not of those things which get used up without coming back. The more you use, the more you will have, and even in rest does it build up. It keeps building up so long as your desire remains to use it for what you want to achieve. So, every time you dance that energy grows in you, and it is a cycle from it to you and from you to it, which never ends, an endless giving, endless taking, endless going and returning. Thus is the cycle of Life, thus the cycle of Art, for Life and Art are entwined in an indestructible link."
