"Movement is magic. Movement is power. Anyone deserves to move: if not in body, then in spirit. Movement is Life. Through it every emotion, every thought, every action of the human is exalted & free. For Movement is the means whereby the vibration that fills everything in Nature down to the atom, is made manifest: it is the vehicle of Change; change of grief into joy, of despair into hope, of darkness into light. Movement is the image of the evolution of the Universe: and no one lives without it.
"The art of movement is the learning of going harmoniously along these lines of evolution: and thus the dancer caught in a frozen attitude of movement, as in the picture that immortalizes a second in an ever-moving variation, shows through the beauty of their frozen pose the wisdom of every second of movement. For even though the image is deprived of the magic of movement, so powerful is that magic that the image still retains a little of it - so that the pose that is frozen movement has a majesty that no pre-arranged pose can ever have. Sound cannot be frozen, for the vibrations of sound are too absolute a representation of life to be captured in the instant, and Movement is the very condition of their being: but the frozen pose of the dancer is the best, most loyal image of the sound were it frozen in the instant.
"Movement is the mirror of the divinity in the human being. When you reflect upon human activity, you see deeds & actions as isolated things, and each of these things is an image. But Movement is not only an isolated thing, an image; Movement is the transition itself, the Action itself which keeps on animating the body, it never stops, never ends. And therefore Movement is the mirror of the divinity of the human being, and it is the looking glass through which the spirit can transmit its dictates to the body. It is not an image, it is not even a succession of images, it is the life between those images, it is the breath that unites them, and makes them the manifestation of ever-working Change.
"So move, move when you feel strong and when you feel weak, move when you feel happy and when you feel sad, for movement gives you life. Movement gives life to that which has almost no more life; hope to who has almost none; strength to who has lost almost all strength. To they who have lost almost all, Movement gives back almost all: for Movement is Life, the most faithful expression of Joy, Hope, and Strength."
