"There is but one light, one life, one driving force in your endeavours: Change. You have been raised in tradition, educated in convention, brought up in the law. Strive for Change in all you do. You are a dancer, your art is that of movement, your only god in Art is Change. Movement in itself is Change, for how is your body to move through space from step to step if you remain the same? Strive then for movement from step to step.
"But Change is not episodic. A dancer's graceful, effortless progression would not appear thus graceful and effortless, were the combinations not made of never-ending transitions, the steps themselves being ceaseless transitions toward the following steps. There is no immobility, nothing is ever still, nothing stops moving: instead all is a perpetual becoming, without pause, without end.
"And thus you cannot consider Change only as a passage from one step to the next, but you must consider it as the life and breath within your work, within your movement, and consider that your movement itself is Change. And when you achieve this, your movement will ever be alive, an endless progression of flawless life, in which each step will evolve out of another, each step will transform into the one following, without stages, without flaw, harmoniously.
"Then will you have achieved the integration of Change into your artwork, as a force for good, for strength, for perfection. And you will not change from one movement into the next, but you will evolve in one continuous movement, never-ending and perfect; without stop, without end, constantly becoming itself, begetting itself anew: just as life, thought, sound."
